During the first half of 2026, Volkswagen sold 281,865 vehicles across the South America (SAM) Region, representing a 10.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025, when 254,771 vehicles were sold.
South America also stands out globally in terms of market share. Between January and June 2026, Volkswagen achieved a 12.2% market share in the region, the second highest worldwide, behind only the Germany Region with 15.4%. Volkswagen’s global sales strategy considers Germany as a separate sales region.
"South America is a strategic region for Volkswagen and continues to be the brand’s fastestgrowing region worldwide in sales volume.
This success reflects the strength of a consistent regional strategy: Brazil remains our largest market, with Volkswagen’s highest global market share and leadership in retail sales. Argentina has also strengthened its leadership in the retail market, while the remaining Latin American markets continue to grow strongly, achieving their best first-half performance since 2022.
This growth is supported by US$3.7 billion in investments through 2028, the launch of 21 new models, and the integration of development, production, sales, and exports across the region.
The Volkswagen Tera is a clear example of this strategy. Developed in Brazil, it became Volkswagen do Brasil’s most exported model in 2026 in less than one year and has strengthened the brand’s presence in 17 Latin American markets. South America continues to grow as an important center for Volkswagen’s business, competitiveness, and global success."
