São Bernardo do Campo, January 30, 2026 – Volkswagen reaffirms South America as its main growth hub on the global stage. With a robust 14.6% increase in 2025 sales compared to 2024, the SAM region remained the fastest-growing in volume for the brand worldwide.

A total of 569,174 Volkswagen vehicles were sold in South America in 2025, a result that demonstrates consistency, reinforces the region's strategic importance to the company's global performance, and supports the renewal of the product portfolio, as well as the strength of the Volkswagen Dealer Network.

In Brazil, Volkswagen consolidated its position as the brand's third-largest global market, behind only China and Germany. The country recorded more than 436,000 units sold in 2025, representing 9% growth compared to 2024, even in a highly competitive automotive sector.

In the Brazilian market, Volkswagen closed 2025 as the undisputed leader in passenger cars and leader in the two main segments of the sector (SUVs and hatchbacks) for the third consecutive year. With 122,675 units registered in 2025, the Polo was the best-selling hatchback and passenger car in Brazil in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

In the SUV segment, the new T‑Cross was also the best-selling model in Brazil in 2023, 2024, and 2025, with 92,839 units sold last year. The model's consistent performance was key to Volkswagen maintaining its leadership in the SUV segment—the fastest-growing segment in the Brazilian market—with 204,896 units sold across the Tera, Nivus, T‑Cross, Taos, Tiguan, and ID.4 models in 2025.

In addition to Brazil, other key South American markets contributed significantly to the brand's performance in 2025:

People, network, and customers: the pillars of performance

"South America is one of the most important regions for the Volkswagen brand worldwide and was the region that grew the most in sales volume in 2025. The 14.6% increase last year, with 569,174 vehicles registered, demonstrates the strength of our portfolio and the strategic relevance of the brand in the region. The results were driven by the dedicated work of our teams and by the strong partnership with our dealer and importer network, which is fundamental for connecting strategy with operations. Another milestone was the 29% growth in exports by Volkswagen do Brasil, with 116,495 units shipped, with the Polo and the Tera being the most exported models in 2025, respectively," says Hendrik Muth, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen in the South America Region. Volkswagen expects to maintain its growth pace in the region with a focus on innovation, competitiveness, and closeness to customers.
