Volkswagen delivers 4.73 million vehicles worldwide and maintains leadership in the European market

  • Global deliveries remained broadly in line with the previous year despite challenging market conditions;
  • Demand for the fully electric ID family models remained almost unchanged, with significant growth in Germany and Europe;
  • Strong-performing models and the broad product offensive (SUVs and ID models) drive demand in Europe;
  • Many new fully electric models are expected in 2026.

Wolfsburg (Germany) – The Volkswagen brand delivered approximately 4.73 million vehicles to customers worldwide last year. Deliveries therefore virtually matched the previous year's level despite challenging market conditions (-1.4%). While a positive trend was observed particularly in Europe (+5.1%) and South America (+18.5%), the market environment in China remained challenging (-8.4%). Tariffs in the United States also had a significant impact on deliveries in North America (-8.2%).

Demand for electric vehicles remains steady, with Volkswagen delivering approximately 382,000 fully electric vehicles worldwide in 2025 (-0.2%). The share of fully electric vehicles in total deliveries was 8.1%.

Volkswagen continues to be the leading brand in the European market, both for vehicles with conventional powertrains and fully electric models. It also holds the number one position in its home market, Germany, where Volkswagen brand market share across all powertrain types, according to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), is 19.6% (+0.5 percentage points year-on-year).

Martin Sander, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, said: "The trend in our delivery figures underscores that our products are being well received by our customers and that we are on the right track with our brand strategy. We expect the market environment to remain challenging overall in 2026. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that thanks to our renewed and attractive product portfolio and our clear focus on efficiency and competitiveness, we are very well prepared to meet this challenge. In China alone, we will introduce more than ten new electric models this year."
