Exhaust Emission Control SystemExhaust emissions standards are legislation adopted by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany governing the limits on pollutants contained in vehicle exhaust gas (sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and diesel exhaust particulates). The EU4 emissions standard applies to all new vehicles registered in the EU since 2006.
The EU5 exhaust emissions standard is due to be introduced in 2009/2010. |
